Is really the management filed suits you?
You should decide in advance that you would be better to carry on the master's degree in some technical specialty or you would like to choose a management stream? Yes this is true for most of the companies but you will be amazed that it's not true for some smart companies. Some smart companies pay according to their importance to the company rather than their post. Chief chemist may sound boring as compared to finance manager but you will be amazed to know some facts. A finance manager may be supervising 3 to 4 executives and end up earning $30000 per annum. However chief chemist might be supervising 8 to 10 chemical engineers and could end up earning more than $100000 p.a.

Getting your first management job
Almost every company hires managers with experience. However to earn experience we have to start from some place. Hence first job is very important. You should make sure that you offer better performance when you get the first chance. Your whole career will depend on the first chance and you performance related to it. You should be attentive. Look for how the mangers are handling various staffs. Read some management books and implement them in your daily life. The chief function of the manager is to manage peoples and should be really good at it.

Power
Most people believe that managers are very powerful; however you must know they are powerful up to the extent that they can make the company profitable. In fact managers are only powerful to make their group successful. And while it depends upon your ability your power comes from your group member if they grant it to you.

Status and prestige
A manager holds very good status in the society. The post senior vise president sound good much more than the research scientist. But the truth might that he might be supervising two to three managers and end up earning $30000 per annum whereas the research scientist manages three research scholars and earn in excess of $100000.
