Shift Work

The shift work has really been one of the key concepts to make better use of the working hours. You should known that there are 24 hours in a day. Hence rather than using the fixed hour such as 9 to 6 basis, you can also make use of the other time as well. For example you can make your employee work from 7 o Clock in the morning till the 11 o Clock in the morning and then again 4 o Clock in the evening till 8 o Clock in the night. In this way you will be able to complete the required 8 hours of work.

In other words you can really say that the shift work is an employment practice designed to make use of 24 hours, rather than a working day. You should know that there are so many kinds of shifts and you can make use of any one of them I would really like to give you the details about the different kind of shifts which the company might use.

1.Three shift pattern

The three shift system is the most common shift pattern. It contains the three shifts. The first shift starting from 6:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m., the second shift starting from 2:00 p.m. to 10: 00 p.m. and the third shift or the night shift starting from 10:00 p.m. till 6: a.m. in the morning.
This is the most common type of shift work.

2.Four on, four off

This is another set of shift. This is practiced in United Kingdom and some part of United States as well. In this process the employee is asked to work for long shifts which is as long as 12 hours. But the plus point is that you get four days off. This is really a big leave. The employee really believes that this is a better option with them. But some do feel that this is really is really hectic.

3.Four on two off

This is another kind of shift. In this the employee is asked to work for five days per week. The number of hours works out to be 56 hours which is more than the previous one.

4.Two days, two nights four off

This is another kind of shift which is quiet popular. In this you are required to work for four days. Apart from it you will get holidays. In fact you will have to work for four days and you will also get the four days off. The number of hours to be worked first depends upon the company.

I really feel that there are so many kinds of shifts which can be used by the company. These are only the few out of many.
